Paola Harris - IUFOC 2009

Paola Harris spoke at the 2009 IUFOC Conference & Film Festival. Paola will suggest that Hollywood films and TV movies are part of a slow process of acclimating the general public to the concept that we are not alone in the Universe. Governmental intervention starting with Disney and the Hollywood film industry has been part of a subtle disclosure process that may lead us to accept the truth. www.ufocongressstore.com

Raw: Democrat Supporter Attacks Photo-Journalist, GA Senator Robert Brown Supporter

Following a news conference held by state Sen. Robert Brown, D-Macon, on Thursday, Malik Brown was filmed attacking photo-jounalist Marshall as he tried to take pictures of the senator as the lawmaker left the building. The incident was captured on video by several local media outlets... According to a police news release, Sen. Brown told police Malik Brown got no direction from him, and that his actions were his own. ...Brown said Malik Brown was not part of his paid staff, did not play a role at the news conference and was not a bodyguard. Malik Brown's father, CJ Brown, who was at the news conference, has been friends with the senator for about 30 years, dating back to the lawmaker's days at Mercer University. The two are not related, but call each other brothers, the senator said. CJ Brown was one of two men who accompanied the lawmaker to the news conference, Sen. Brown said... Video of the incident shows Malik Brown shoving Marshall into a wall in the City Hall lobby. On the City Hall porch shortly after, Malik Brown is seen slamming Marshall into a pillar, then shoving Marshall down into a metal railing. ... "As I was trying to go around (Sen.) Brown, he pushed me -- gave me a hip check to the left," Marshall said. "The next thing I know, the guy in the red shirt was on me." Note: This is a series of raw clips from various sources compiled to show the desperation and extremes being taken by the Democrats in Georgia to combat their withering defeats in recent elections.

G20 Toronto Black Block get green light to rampage?

Join Canadians Demanding a Public Inquiry into Toronto G20 on Facebook: www.facebook.com A photo Journalist describes his experience following the black block as they rampage through the streets of Toronto during the G20 Summit. 20000 police and security officials and a $1 billion security budget were not enough to stop 75-100 black block anarchists from smashing windows and torching police cars during a 1.5 hour rampage. The Black Block were able to rampage through the street for 24 blocks until they reached the 'official protest zone' where they quickly changed clothes dispersed through the crowd of peaceful protesters and then left the site. The police were fully aware of the rampage and watched the black block from a distance at a number of locations. It wasn't until they had dispersed into a crowd of peaceful protesters who thought that they were in a sanctioned area that the police took action beating innocent people with batons and spraying them with pepper spray. Why was this allowed to happen? Police abandoned police cars at Bay and King when they didn't need to, why? Was this allowed to happen so the Harper government could justify an outrageous security bill when there was no credible terrorist threat (according to CSIS)? Who led this group of vandals? Were they infiltrated by government paid provocateurs as was the case in Montebello where police with masks and rocks attacked their own riot squad?

In the spring of 2008 I was embedded with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (24th MEU) in Afghanistan's Helmand River Valley near the border with Pakistan. I was on assignment as a backpack video journalist for NOW on PBS, one of the last and best long-form news magazine programs on American television. New York Times photojournalist Tyler Hicks also accompanied the 24th MEU's Alpha Company as the Marines conducted a major operation in the area. I believe this video shows Tyler's professionalism, tenacity, and dedication to craft that have made him one of the top photojournalists in the world. Tyler is one of four New York Times employees captured recently by Libyan forces. The government of Libya has promised to release all four. Photojournalist Tyson Zoltan Heder beaten and detained by LAPD at Occupy Los Angeles

Photojournalist Tyson Zoltan Heder, who was photographing the events of Occupy Los Angeles and the LAPD evicting the protesters, was beaten by the police and had his camera taken, and then he was detained and charged with "assault", and at the time of uploading this video he remains in police custody. Watch the video and see if you can see anyone doing any "assault" to anyone else. I'll give you a hint: Tyson isn't the perpetrator of any assault, he's the one who GETS assaulted. twitter.com www.facebook.com @FreeTysonHeder #FreeTysonHeder Tyson's website: sexwithdonuts.com Video courtesy of KCAL, CBS affiliate in Los Angeles (videos of this incident keep getting taken off YouTube and off their website so hopefully this won't get taken down, but this video is needed as evidence of police brutality and Tyson Zoltan Heder's innocence so I certainly have no plans of taking it down, this is fair use under copyright law and it is also legal evidence so anyone who tries to get me to take this video down is trying to destroy evidence).

Dallas Thugs Go Nuts & Assault Police, Photojournalist W/Fireworks

While most Americans celebrated 4th of July by shooting a few fireworks into the sky, Dallas police were dealing with an out of control mob of people shooting fireworks at them and a photojournalist. This went down Tuesday morning (July 5). News 8 photographer Robert Flagg was the 1st on the scene at Creekside Villa apartments in Southeast Dallas. He says that at 1st the crowd was only shooting at each other until they saw him and started aiming his way. "Once I got there, I noticed it was just basically a war zone going on," Flagg said. "The missiles — or whatever they were — they were hitting, they were bouncing off my chest and off my camera. One hit me in the back, and it burned my neck and it burned my shirt." Once police arrived on the scene they quickly realized they were outnumbered and had to call for additional back up. "Those officers that arrived were being shot at by fireworks," said Dallas police spokesman Senior Cpl. Kevin Janse. "In fact, one officer who was actually hit by a bottle rocket in the arm. Once enough officers got there, the crowd dispersed. That's considered aggravated assault, and it will be filed as that and will be investigated to its fullest, and hopefully we can find out who actually did it." Apartment residents said this is what happens in the hood. "It's every day; it's every day," said one tenant. "This is the hood. That's how it go down every day."

Photography Tips from Commercial Photographer Vincent Laforet

www.silberstudios.tv Commercial photographer Vincent Laforet joins us today on the Marc Silber show to talk about his approach to photography. He provides us with photography techniques and tips for both amateurs and professionals alike. For six years, Vince was a photojournalist for the New York Times, where he worked on a team that won the Pulitzer Prize for its 9 coverage. As a photojournalist, Vince often had to choose a single image that most accurately captured the essence of an event. He advises people to put the camera down, walk around, and ask themselves a series of questions, such as "What really is special about this place?" Learning about the history of a photo shoot location or finding the best time of day for shadows and lighting is just as important for creating a great photo composition. When looking through the lens, a photographer needs to make sure that a photo will elicit emotions and thoughts. Vince points out that many people romanticize the life of a photographer - they forget about the preparation and packing of equipment that accompanies every photo shoot. Carrying too much equipment slows down the photographer and may result in missed images and opportunities, not enough and you can also miss shots, so do your research and be prepared including your memory cards.

His wife and family are making it hard for him to keep his mind on his work when he's in a war zone, and he wants to change jobs to something less stressful. But he's got one last assignment, in war-torn Yugoslavia, in 1991, at the height of the fighting. Word comes back that he apparently died in a building collapse, but his wife Sarah (also a journalist for Newsweek) refuses to believe that he's dead and goes looking for him. She's helped immensely by the photo-journalists Eric Kyle and Marc Stevenson that she runs into over there; together, they're determined to make it through the chaotic landscape to Vukovar, which is not only the nexus of the war but where she believes Harrison is located. Meanwhile, Harrison's son Cesar is looking after his father's prized greenhouse, keeping hope, and flowers, alive.

TEDxAmsterdam - Hans Aarsman -11/20/09

Hans Aarsmans talk at TEDxAmsterdam was titled From pretty to ugly and back again; mysterious ways of beauty in photography and the audience judged it one of the highlights of the day. Surprising, insightful and at times hilarious, Aarsman shows different concepts of beauty in photography, and suggests that the only real photographic beauty is to be found in pictures that were made without such a goal in mind. Hans Aarsman is a former photographer, who worked as a photo journalist at a Dutch newspaper and published a series of books. In 1989 he published the book Hollandse Taferelen (Dutch scenes). He published three more photo books before he left photography. He now writes about photography, ao for the Dutch daily newspaper the Volkskrant About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
