Tool Time: NYPost "Libel" of OWS

The New York Post since the Occupy Wall Street protest began has tried to smear the movement. But their smears have now gone to a new level. The headline reads "NYPD sends elite detectives to Wall St. protests". We'll tell you about how the Post accused OWS protesters of vandalizing the new 9/11 Memorial site at Ground Zero. And how Salon's Justin Elliott points out it's libel.

He stepped out in the footwear to grab shave ice on the last day of his vacation (check out an image HERE) and various historians told the newspaper that they couldn't recall other leading men making the style same statement while in office. Presidential historian Doug Wead remarked, "In public, no. I haven't seen the president's toes," adding, "It makes him look like a man of the people, and they [his advisers] probably like that it's an informal and inexpensive shoe." Wead said once, a group of youngsters hit Jimmy Carter's White House for an event wearing sneakers, and "I remember Mrs. Carter looking down at their feet, horrified." However Kathleen Hall Jamieson of the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg Center for Public Policy best summed up the President's fashion decision, explaining, "If you were born in Hawaii, if you grew up in Hawaii, if you vacation in Hawaii and you don't wear flip-flops, then there is something ...

Inside the NY Post - chapter 3

We look at one of New York City's most prominent newspapers in Tabloid! Inside the New York Post. This documentary portrays the Post, warts and all, as a highly competitive news organization that runs the gamut from analytical business coverage to vicious celebrity mudslinging. "We're a tabloid and that means we cover news through people and personalities, more than through abstract issues," says a staff writer for the Post whose take-no-prisoners approach is embraced by her colleagues. We're introduced to "Calamity" Sam Costanza, a crime photographer and adrenaline junkie on the prowl for fires, muggings, and particularly juicy murders; Richard Johnson, a gossip columnist with a vendetta against actor Alec Baldwin; and Managing Editor Marc Kalech, who proudly proclaims, "We attack people who need attacking." Sure, it's somewhat bizarre to witness such a huge collection of egomaniacs, hard-core journalists, and shallow columnists cranking out stories that have the barest resemblance to anything called news. However, Tabloid ties together a host of seemingly unrelated subplots and creates a compelling portrait of New York's most controversial newspaper. --Tim Brennan

NYPost: 2 NYPD Vehicles Collide

This harrowing photo shows the aftermath of a crash between two police cars rushing to the same robbery yesterday, injuring six officers. The accident occurred shortly after 3 pm when the two police vehicles, a marked cruiser and an unmarked sedan, T-boned at the intersection of Belmont Avenue and Milford Street in East New York, Brooklyn. The impact sent the unmarked car into the Home Sweet Home Laundromat on the corner. The cops' injuries were described as non-life threatening. The marked car was all but totaled, its passenger- side front door ripped off and its grille shredded. Two customers in the laundry were uninjured, although the front of the shop was destroyed, said owner Samuel Orozco. Here's a link to the original article on New York Post www.nypost.com

Twilight Saga Vs. Vampire Diaries: NYPost Says VD Is Better!

Twitter.com - Follow Us! bit.ly - NYPOST Article! Caution Twilight fanatics-we have a story that might make you loose it-this could mean war for you guys. That story is up next. Hey everyone-Joslyn Davis in the ClevverTV studio with news that has fans of Twilight and Vampire Diaries going head to head. A writer from the "New York Post," Ari Karpel, recently wrote an article stating his preference for Paul Wesley over Robert Pattinson. He also noted his overall stance on the battle between the vampire sagas has him siding with Vampire Diaries. Karpel gave three three reasons why he feels so strongly in favor of the Diaries. Number one-blood and gore. He wrote that the show "is a more traditional vampire horror tale than Twilight," while the movies focus more on romance than murder. Plus, he also notes that the Cullens don't even have the normal vampire fangs. Number two-Karpel likes the sex factor in Vampire Diaries. So far in the Twi-saga, we haven't seen any serious action on this front, and the writer says that the films promote vampires having "falsely neutered innocence," which isn't really in line with normal vampire characteristics. And lastly Karpel gives the reason of contrasting heroines. He writes that Bella is a blank slate without any actual personality, while Elena "sets an example for young girls as strong minded woman." And when Elena learns Stephan is a vampire she is truly horrified. Wow-so lots to ponder. Karpel brings up some valid points, but do you ...

Editor of The NY Post wants you to help evict Tea & Sympathy Mom Pop Kids

I am holding the editor accountable for an editorial in today's The NY Post asking us to not eat at Tea and Sympathy because the owner made an off the cuff comment about Quinn acting like a sell out -- but said 'whore'. Because of this the editor who seems blissfully unaware of all the evictions including way too many mom and pop store want us to add one more eviction to the list. The editor claims he supports free speech but wants us to help evict a Mother, Father and their small children! I urge you to eat at Tea and Sympathy! www.teaandsympathynewyork.com This is obviously a hatchet job which shows Bill Thompson is a real threat. Here is the irony! OWS 'Wayward Mom' reacts angrily to NY Post article

NEW YORK (PIX11)— 38-year-old Stacey Hessler said it was important for the future of her four children to leave them in Florida with their dad for a bit, so she could join the "Occupy Wall Street" movement and protest against corporate greed. But she lashed out at a New York Post article that characterized her as a 'wayward wife'. Hessler had not seen the Post story, when PIX 11 approached her Friday at her campsite in Zuccotti Park, in lower Manhattan. When we asked how her husband, Curtis--who's a banker--feels about her packing up to spend time at the outdoor protest, she initially said, "He supports me." But then, she quickly added, "God. Now I know the article sucks. Thank you. I don't want to talk." When PIX 11 pressed her about the way she was portrayed in the story, with the first line saying she had "ditched" her family, Hessler dropped an F-bomb and grabbed the newspaper article out of my hands. She then conferred with a fellow camper, Rami Shamir, a Brooklyn waiter the Post said she was "cozying up" with. Shamir angrily replied, "They should come down here, instead of cozying up in their towers!" Another protester slammed us, "You're trying to slander her, because she has kids. And she's a good mom."
