shop.ebay.com The Watts Towers of Simon Rodia in the Watts district of Los Angeles, California, is a collection of 17 interconnected structures, which reach heights of over 99 feet (30 m). The Towers were built by Italian immigrant construction worker Sabato Rodia in his spare time over a period of 33 years, from 1921 to 1954. The work is a fantastic example of non-traditional vernacular architecture and American Naïve outsider artwork. The Towers are located near (and visible from) the 103rd Street-Kenneth Hahn Station of the Metro Rail LACMTA Blue Line. They were designated a National Historic Landmark in 1990. On May 24, 2010, the Savannah River Sites (SRS) massive K Cooling Tower was safely demolished as part of the Site-wide Footprint Reduction Initiative funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). As the second-largest cooling tower to be demolished worldwide, the 450 foot-tall and 345 foot-wide tower posed a unique challenge to SRS project managers and commanded the attention of even the most seasoned industry veterans.

911 Call in World Trade Center, while tower collapse
This guy was stuck in the tower while calling. He kept trying to get some support from the emergency services, but they did not be really helpful except try to calm him down. There are some other 911 tapes from two callers in the towers, since the Moussaoui Trial. Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy and the band's longtime graphic designer, Lawrence Azerrad (cousin of author Michael), were struggling with the design for Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. They wanted something that connected the band to its hometown, so they combed through hundreds of photos shot by Sam Jones (who would later release a film about the album called I Am Trying To Break Your Heart). Nothing was working until they saw a picture of Marina City. Azerrad removed the neighboring buildings from the image to keep focus on the towers, and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot had its cover. Paste ranked it number 18 in its list of the decade's 25 best album covers, and nearly 10 years after the album's release, Marina City is still called "the Wilco towers" by fans.
