How to Solve a Rubik's Cube - Part 1 - White Cross

In my tutorial, I will teach you how to solve a Rubik's Cube (regular 3x3)using 7 steps, which I explain in detail. My videos are longer than others you may find, but I feel that by spending more time with you for each step, you will understand it better than if I rush through it like those other videos. Although my videos are longer, it will pay off in the shorter amount of time you spend solving your cube. Other methods tend to use repetitive moves, not letting you understand how the cube works very well and wasting too much time and too many moves. I taught quite a few people this method in college, and also family members and friends who were able to solve it relatively quickly once they understood the method. Once you have memorized the algorithms and also understand the method I use, you can solve the cube in ABOUT 1-2 MINUTES WITH PRACTICE. Go here to see my Rubiks.com page with links to ALL my tutorials!! www.rubiks.com This is the first step of the Tutorial for solving the cube. THE SECOND STEP IS ON MY CHANNEL PLAYLIST AND ALSO IN THE VIDEO RESPONSES SECTION OF THIS VIDEO. Link for Step 2: www.youtube.com Check out this video of a 7 YEAR OLD who solved the cube in under 3 minutes using my tutorial! www.youtube.com It involves first placing four white edge pieces around the yellow center piece. You must then match each individual edge piece with its side color and flip it until it is matched with both the white and side colors. *If you are HAVING DIFFICULTY ...

CubeStormer II

CubeStormer II solves the Rubik's Cube puzzle faster than the human world record. This ARM Powered robot was designed, built and programmed by Mike Dobson and David Gilday, creators respectively of CubeStormer youtu.be and Android Speedcuber youtu.be The mechanics are constructed entirely from LEGO, including four MINDSTORMS NXT kits, with the addition of a Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone running a custom Android app as the robot's brain. Both the MINDSTORMS NXT kits and the Samsung Galaxy SII use a variety of ARM --based processors. The app uses the phone's camera to capture images of each face of the Rubik's Cube which it processes to determine the scrambled colours. The solution is found using an advanced two-phase algorithm, originally developed for Speedcuber, enhanced to be multi-threaded to make effective use of the smartphone's dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 1.2GHz processor. The software finds an efficient solution to the puzzle which is optimised specifically for the capabilities of the four-grip mechanism. The app communicates via Bluetooth with software running on the ARM microprocessors in the LEGO NXT Intelligent Bricks which controls the motors driving the robot. During the physical solve, the app uses OpenGL ES on the phone's ARM Mali-400 MP GPU to display a graphical version of the cube being solved in real time. Human speedcubers' solve times only include the physical manipulation of the cube and don't include some time which is allowed to "inspect" the cube ...

Android Megaminxer - How to solve Megaminx with your phone

Megaminxer is probably the first robot in the world to solve a Megaminx puzzle. The Megaminx is a dodecahedron with 12 faces, each with 5 edges. Each face can be rotated in a similar way to the well-known Rubik's Cube puzzle. The robot itself is built out of LEGO using a Mindstorms NXT kit for driving the mechanics. An HTC Desire smartphone running a custom Android app is the brain of the solver. The app uses the phone's camera to capture images of each face of the Megaminx which it then processes to determine the colors of the scrambled puzzle. After working out the solution, the app transmits the moves to the NXT controller via bluetooth to instruct it to solve the Magaminx. The mechanism used by Megaminxer has been adapted from the "MultiCuber" robot designs as seen in MultiCuber 777 www.youtube.com The most challenging parts of the mechanical design were creating pentagonal shaped rings and modifying the tilting mechanism to cope with the obtuse angles between edges and faces using LEGO bricks that more naturally form shapes with right angles. The software uses an enhanced table-driven algorithm developed from one previously created for solving the standard 3x3x3 Rubik's Cube puzzle. Check out the blog: blogs.arm.com

I also want to add my "Idle Speech" into the mix here: There are a lot of things that can contribute to an idle issue, in fact in the end it may still be there to some degree because of the nature of that engine however here are some things to start with. First start with a good tune up, use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs, don't change the wires if they are OE, if they aren't OE you might consider NGK wires as they are very good and less expensive then OE. A quality cap and rotor should be good. A new air filter also helps. Don't change the PCV valve, if you see an aftermarket PCV valve in there put a Honda in, believe it or not I've seen idle issues caused by aftermarket PCV valves, the OE's last just about forever so you can ...

How to Solve a Rubik's Cube - Part 7 - Finishing the Cube

In this step, we perform the Allan, a 9 move algorithm which rotates the top layer edge pieces in a counter-clockwise direction. After that, the cube should be done! The Algorithm we must know for this step is: L180 Ti B Fi L180 Bi F Ti L180 (rotates last 3 edges counter-clockwise) *****Please NOTE that if you have 2 sides completed at any time when doing this algorithm, it is because you have at one time had pieces removed or pop out of your cube. You must remove and switch these pieces or you cannot solve your cube***** Official/Standard Notation is: L2 Ui B Fi L2 Bi F Ui L2 "Reverse" Allan: (rotates last 3 pieces clockwise, put the completed side on the LEFT) R2 U Bi F R2 B Fi U R2 You must make sure that when you perform this step, that the COMPLETED side is on the RIGHT face. The LEFT face then becomes the side OPPOSITE the completed face. If you do NOT have a completed side, then any side can be the LEFT side as long as the yellow is on top and white on bottom. You will see that when the completed side is on the right face, the piece in the front upper layer edge position will be moved to the back face, the back face piece will go to the left face, and the left face piece will go to the front face (*Please watch video to completely understand*). THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR THE POSITIVE COMMENTS! I am so glad that I was able to help so many people solve the cube. Check out my 3x3 Tutorial: www.youtube.com Want to see a faster way to solve the case at 6:30? Check out this video and GO TO TIME POINT 13:20 :-) www.youtube.com Goes over the 3 main types of parity errors you will encounter while pairing edge pieces on the 5x5 cube, the single edge flip, the edge swap, and checkerboard patterns. You will only need to know two algorithms in order to correct the parity errors, and you should already know the first one since it is also used to solve the 4x4 parity error. The first parity case I go over is one where we have one middle edge piece which is flipped. The algorithm I give you does not actually flip that single middle edge piece alone, but flips the two outer edge pieces over so they are the same orientation as the middle piece. The algorithm we use to correct this is the same algorithm we used in the 4x4 Tutorial for fixing the PLL parity error which occurred when solving the top cross. It is: (Rr)2 B2 U2 (Ll) U2 (Rr)' U2 (Rr) U2 F2 (Rr) F2 (Ll)' B2 (Rr)2 ________________________________________ The second type of parity case is one where we have two outer/wing edge pieces which have switched places. That algorithm we will be using is: (Ll)' U2 (Ll)' U2 F2 (Ll)' F2 (Rr) U2 (Rr)' U2 (Ll)2 ________________________________________ The third type of parity error is basically ...

How To Solve a 6x6x6 V-Cube 6 - Part 3 - Edge Pairing

Link to Part 4 - Parity Errors and Final Solve as 3x3 www.youtube.com This Part 3 will cover the method for solving the edge pieces of the 6x6x6 V-Cube 6. I will teach a type of beginner method, which works by starting from the inside edges and working your way out pairing one edge at a time. I believe it is easier and more intuitive for the beginner to visualize the cube edges as a 4x4 and then a 5x5. Pairing the inner edges of the 6x6 cube is the same exact concept as solving the edge pieces of a 4x4 cube. Once you have paired as many edges as you can, you will either have all 12 edge pairs complete, or you will have 2 edge pairs left. If two pairs are left, this indicates you have a parity error. The algorithm for fixing the inner edge parity error is: 3d RF' UR' F 3d' Once you have paired all the inner edges and fixed parity, you will have effectively reduced the 6x6 edges to 5x5 edges. You can therefore pair up the remaining edges as you would on a 5x5 cube. There are 3 main types of last edge pair cases I go over in the video. These are all equivalent cases to the 5x5 cube last edges and can be solved similarly. The first edge parity case is one where you have a flipped inner edge group. To fix this case, we will place this group on the top layer directly in front of you. Chimpanzee Problem Solving by Imitation

A brief, interesting clip from National Geographic's "Ape Genius" documentary, demonstrating problem solving skills in chimpanzees, by observing actions taken by an unrelated tribe. This experiment was conducted at the University of Texas by Antoine Spiteri, et al. As time goes on, it becomes more and more obvious that the great apes are our evolutionary cousins. I would hope everyone viewing this would be able to share in my astonishment and awe at the brilliance displayed by these amazing creatures. More Information: www.sciam.com
