Lewis backdates his Minecraft to 1.7.3 and looks at a combination of awesome industry-style mods compiled by an awesome fellow named Kakermix as the "Technic pack". I have shied away from this for a while because it's so complicated, but once I got stuck in, I realised it was totally and utterly awesome. The Technic combination mod pack is out-of-date and completely unofficial, so use it at your own risk!
