Feel I'm goin' back to Massachusetts. Something's telling me I must go home. And the lights all went out in Massachusetts The day I left her standing on her own. Tried to hitch a ride to San Francisco. Gotta do the things I wanna do. And the lights all went out in Massachusetts They brought me back to see my way with you. Talk about the life in Massachusetts. Speak about the people I have seen. And the lights all went out in Massachusetts, And Massachusetts is one place I have seen

Boston - Massachusetts - US Cities

Boston is the capital of and largest city in Massachusetts, and is one of the oldest cities in the United States. The largest city in New England, Boston is regarded as the unofficial "Capital of New England" for its economic and cultural impact on the entire New England region. The city proper had a population of 617594 according to the 2010 US Census. Boston is also the anchor of a substantially larger metropolitan area called Greater Boston, home to 4.5 million people and the tenth-largest metropolitan area in the country. Greater Boston as a commuting region includes six Massachusetts counties: Essex, Middlesex, Norfolk, Suffolk, Plymouth, Worcester, northern Bristol County, all of Rhode Island and parts of New Hampshire; it is home to 7.6 million people, making it the fifth-largest Combined Statistical Area in the United States. In 1630, Puritan colonists from England founded the city on the Shawmut Peninsula. During the late 18th century, Boston was the location of several major events during the American Revolution, including the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. Several early battles of the American Revolution, such as the Battle of Bunker Hill and the Siege of Boston, occurred within the city and surrounding areas. Through land reclamation and municipal annexation, Boston has expanded beyond the peninsula. After American independence was attained Boston became a major shipping port and manufacturing center, and its rich history now helps attract many ...

Massachusetts ( Bee Gees Live at Top of the Pops Show ) 1967

"Massachusetts" is a song written, recorded, and released by the Bee Gees in 1967 and later appearing on their 1968 album, Horizontal. It was their first Number 1 hit in the UK. Vocals are by Robin Gibb (most of the lead), Barry Gibb, and Maurice Gibb. The band are Barry Gibb (rhythm guitar), Maurice Gibb (bass guitar), Vince Melouney (lead guitar), and Colin Petersen (drums), with an orchestral arrangement by Bill Shepherd. For Maurice Gibb, the song had a painful memory attached. Shortly after it was recorded, Beatles manager Brian Epstein told him that it was beautiful and would be the hit of the summer. These proved to be Epstein's last words to Maurice; Epstein died a few days later. The song has a minor claim to fame in the history of British radio. While many people know "Flowers in the Rain" by The Move was the first record played on BBC Radio 1, Massachusetts was the second.[1] Ed Ames recorded a version of this song on his album "Who Will Answer?", in 1968. This single is the first number-one hit single by a non-Japanese artist on Japan's official hit chart, Oricon. When Barry, Robin and Maurice Gibb wrote this song it was originally intended to be recorded by The Seekers, but they did not record it. That's why the Bee Gees recorded it themselves. The Seekers finally recorded it after Maurice Gibb's death in 2003, as a tribute to him.

Massachusetts (live)

Massachusetts was written in 1967 in the flower power era when a lot of young people believed in having a political voice and was a major landmark in the Bee Gees' career being their first German No1. In fact , it was a world-wide smash hit, topping the charts in Great Britain, Holland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Chile, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Belgium and Norway! Robin Gibb said of this song that it is not literally talking about people going back to Massachusetts but represents all the people who want to go back to somewhere or something. It's about people who want to escape.

Anthem of Massachusetts USA

All Hail To Massachusetts Written by Arthur J. Marsh All hail to Massachusetts, the land of the free and the brave! For Bunker Hill and Charlestown, and flag we love to wave; For Lexington and Concord, and the shot heard 'round the world; All hail to Massachusetts, we'll keep her flag unfurled. She stands upright for freedom's light that shines from sea to sea; All hail to Massachusetts! Our country 'tis of thee! All hail to grand old Bay State, the home of the bean and the cod, Where pilgrims found a landing and gave their thanks to God. A land of opportunity in the good old USA Where men live long and prosper, and people come to stay. Don't sell her short but learn to court her industry and stride; All hail to grand old Bay State! The land of pilgrim's pride! All hail to Massachusetts, renowned in the Hall of Fame! How proudly wave her banners emblazoned with her name! In unity and brotherhood, sons and daughters go hand in hand; All hail to Massachusetts, there is no finer land! It's MASSACHUSETTS. All hail to Massachusetts! All hail! All hail! All hail!

BOSTON Massachusetts

Boston has over half a million inhabitants and is the largest of New England's cities. As its most important commercial and financial centre, the city on the Charles River has always played an historic role and was the cradle of Independence. In the centre of Boston, Copley Square features the Trinity Church, which contrasts with the modern Hancock Tower that dominates the skyline. Park Street Church was where, in 1829, William Garrison gave his first anti-slavery speech. In the adjacent Granary Burial Ground, some of America's most famous sons are buried, such as John Hancock, Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. Beacon Hill has hardly changed over the past 150 years, an architectural gem with narrow, winding cobbled streets and even today, the wrought ironwork of its balconies and banisters indicate that this is one of Boston's most sought after areas. In front of the Old South Meeting House, in 1729, thousands of Boston's inhabitants protested against the English king and the taxes that he had imposed upon them. The Old State House is Boston's oldest public building. In 1776, it was here that the Declaration of Independence was read out for the first time. The Plymouth Plantation is a reconstruction of the Pilgrim Fathers' original settlement and is one of the jewels of the many living museums in the USA To the southwest of Boston there is the museum town of Old Sturbridge Village in which historic buildings from all over the country have been lovingly replicated. Marriage Equality & Religion: The Massachusetts Experience

One of the most dominant myths used by forces opposed to marriage equality is that allowing same-sex couples to marry would somehow negatively affect religious institutions or apply restrictions to their freedom to worship as they choose. Although this myth is patently false, that has not stopped some opponents from using the claim to lead people to believe their religious freedom is in danger. Fortunately, in New York, we do not need to speculate on how religious institutions, spiritual life and the freedom to worship will be affected if the state passes a law allowing same-sex couples to marry. New York needs only to look to our neighbor to the east, Massachusetts — where marriages for same-sex couples have been legal since 2004 — to see that the worries about such a law negatively impacting people of faith have been unfounded.

Massachusetts Values

Before you vote in the Massachusetts special election to fill Ted Kennedy's Senate seat, here's a few things you should know about Scott Brown: * He calls himself independent, but voted with Republican leadership 96% of the time. * Brown has repeatedly opposed a woman's right to choose. * He's even against cracking down on excessive Wall Street bonuses. No wonder Browns' campaign is being supported by the same extremist group that backs Sarah Palin. With the polls tightening, it's coming down to your vote and people you know. Martha Coakley shares the Massachusetts values that Ted Kennedy embodied during his 46 years in the US Senate. We're not going to stand for it. Halloween 2009 in Salem, Massachusetts

A daytime view of Halloween 2009 in Salem, Massachusetts. All video was taken between 3-4 PM. Obviously, the crowds grew after dark. The video starts at Artists Row off New Derby St, continues to the Essex St. Pedestrian Mall, then goes towards the Salem Witch Museum in Washington Square. Later you'll see the DeLorean from the Back to the Future movies on the closed to traffic Washington St. From there you see the Witch Dungeon on Lynde St. and later the Witch House before turning back on Essex St. towards where we started. The traffic coming into the city really peaks about 4 pm, when the video ends.
