Blender test: Propeller in fluid

This is a test where I tried to use Blender's smoke simulator for simulating fluids like water. First experiments seemed promising, on greater domain resolutions however the "fluid" seems to lose density and thus volume for no apparent reason, rendering it pretty hard to use as alternative to the regular fluid simulator. I don't know if the reason for this lies in the nature of the smoke sim algorithms or if it's caused by some bug in its implementation. kostackstudio.de

The Visible Human in real-time with Blender

In this demonstration you are about to see a little tour through a real female human body (age 59) from the Visual Human Project. The shown "block" consists of 1746 x 570 x 666 cells in resolution. It is rendered by a basic GeForce 8600 GT with 512 MB of video memory on top of a 2,4 GHz Quad-Core system with 4 GB of memory. This video runs in real-time.

Blender test: Cycles animation with motion blur

Test done with an in-development Blender 2.5 Cycles build. I rendered 5 times the frames needed to do some kind of sampled motion blur to test if noise is reduced and how it will look. To exaggerate the noise test, I added also some "dust" to the camera lens. As you can see, the noise doesn't change very much in between frames which renders this method as not as effective as it could be. 2500 frames each with 200 samples, needed around 24 hours to render. kostackstudio.de

Blender test: Fireball (with .blend file)

Because of the great interest in my very first fire test, I updated the old file for a longer re-render and for a release to the Blender community. It's quite simple and therefore a good start for users new to Blender's smoke and voxel system. There are no external forces used, the turbulences are resulting from the smoke dynamics themselves. The earlier lava-like effect wasn't intended behavior, I explained it in more detail in the description to the old video: www.youtube.com Here is the .blend file: www.pasteall.org Have fun. www.kostackstudio.de

Blender test: Ocean Fluid Dynamics Simulation

The YouTube quality is pretty bad. You can try the Vimeo version for some more visual details and the source video download: www.vimeo.com This was rendered with Blender 2.5 Beta in FullHD. 10 gigabyte of floating point displacement data and textures, generated with Blender's original Ocean Simulator, were needed for this 40 seconds sequence. I used OpenEXR and Pixar's lossy compression method to store the data, since PNG or JPG hadn't the necessary precision. The render time per frame was around 1m:30s on a 12 core system. www.KostackStudio.de

Blender test: Fire

Testing fire settings for smoke simulation in blender 2.5 alpha 0. Resolution: 48, Wavelet Resolution: 4. That it looks like it would turn into "lava" has a strange reason. If I remember right, it had to do with an interruption of the calculation process and deleting the velocity data caching file at frame 150 or so. It wasn't an intended effect, I just searched a way to continue rendering from that frame without restart from frame 1, because the cache was quite buggy back then. I'm pretty sure that's why all movement is stopping and just falling down. www.kostackstudio.de

Blender Demolition - Case Study: World Trade Center (Demo 3)

Demo video of the development of the Demolition feature for Blender 2.5x/2.6. The main purpose of this video is to prove the capabilities of my physics system development, if any. It is not intended to prove or disprove 9/11 conspiracy theories. I'm deleting comments that include hate speech, so you better think twice before starting an argument about the reasons of 9/11 here. This test case scenario needed 10 minutes per frame to calculate geometry deformations and additional 5 minutes to render the image. The test system was an Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition with 3,33 GHz, 12 virtual cores and 12 GB of RAM. Real-time Shattering - Grid based calculation of forces

This is an advanced demo of my earlier Real-time Shattering Demolition video. It visualizes the forces within the base grid to show that the simulation is now sensitive to gravity as well. It's still Blender in case I haven't mentioned it. Before you complain about the lagging, it's caused ONLY by the visualization mesh. It takes a moment to recreate and update it every time. If it's disabled it runs as fast as in the last demo, there is no noticeable performance loss. This is my own implementation for shattering physics, mainly inspired by the persons below.
