by Rami Katzav A short test i have shot on the Arri Alexa testing LogC vs Rec709, Prores 422 vs 444, Exposure & ISO. All shots were recorded on SxS cards. Obviously the difference between the 422 vs 444 can't be seen here, only on the original files. 444 seems crispier and more defined on color separation. Test includes Exposure differences only between -3 to +4, but the camera holds detail in a larger scale.

Just got my Alexa and decided to do a little test shooting around the house. Mostly a low-light test. Please watch in HD! If I were to give this test shoot a name it'd be "Silence In the Home" since the Alexa doesn't shoot sound and this took place at home. :P Some notes: h264 and youtube seems to have hurt the color and detail in this video. ARRI's latest lighting innovation is the L7 series of LED-based Fresnels. The line is made up of three fixtures: the L7-T (3200K tungsten-balanced), the L7-D (5400K daylight-balanced), and the L7-C (color-controllable). The L7-C can be adjusted from 2700K-10000K, with an additional green/magenta control. It also features a "Hue Mode" for theatrical color effects. These fixtures have a wide range of beam control, produce single, sharp shadows like conventional Fresnel fixtures, are fully dimmable from 0-100% with no color shift, and have an even field of illumination. Most importantly, at just 220w, the L7 LED lights use less than a quarter of the power of a 1000w tungsten Fresnel fixture with equivalent light output. Released last year, the Arri MMB-1 mattebox is a well-made, low cost mattebox that was originally conceived for compact HD cameras such as the Sony PMW-EX1 and EX3.
